About the Role
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to develop and strengthen their experience within Bank Reconciliations in a fast-paced and evolving Finance environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely reconciliation of multiple bank accounts across various entities, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting the integrity of the company’s financial records.
The role will focus heavily on daily bank reconciliations, including balancing cashbooks, general ledgers, and bank statements, identifying and investigating unreconciled items, resolving discrepancies efficiently, and ensuring all transactions are accurately accounted for. The successful candidate will also support month-end reconciliation activities, assist with cash reporting processes, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reconciliation accuracy and efficiency across the Finance function.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position.
Principal Accountabilities
Daily Bank Account Reconciliation: Balancing cashbook, general ledger, and bank reconciliations to ensure accurate records.
Unreconciled Item Investigation and Resolution: Focusing on root cause investigation and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
Compliance and Accuracy: Ensuring data is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
Discrepancy Identification and Resolution: Identifying discrepancies, investigating causes, and taking action to resolve them.
Collaboration and Communication: Liaising with other departments to resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
Process Improvement: Proactively identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Reporting and Analysis: Preparing reports on key performance indicators and providing analysis of financial information.
Support and Training: Providing support to other departments and assisting with the development of team members.
Compliance and Controls: Ensuring adequate systems and controls are in place to mitigate financial risks.
Audit Support: Assisting with audits, including providing information and coordinating with auditors.
Monitoring and managing aged unreconciled items to ensure timely clearance.
Supporting month-end and year-end close processes.
Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and cash reporting.
Working with high-volume transactions across multiple bank accounts and entities.
Ad hoc Tasks: Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the responsibilities and grading of the post, as appropriate.
Required Experience
GCSE Mathematics and English required.
Intermediate Excel skills required, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
1+ years’ experience gained in a similar finance or reconciliation environment.
Experience with Credit Card Reconciliations is desirable.
Experience using finance and reconciliation systems such as Admin Studio, Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), and Trintech is desirable.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a successful team.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Experience working within a fast-paced, high-volume finance environment.
